William J. Parrillo was born in Oak Park, Illinois in 1928. After graduating from St. Ignatius High School, he attended Loyola University in Chicago. In 1950, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business. He then enlisted in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He was honorably discharged in 1953, having achieved the rank of sergeant.
Bill began to sell health, accident and life insurance for Sterling Life Insurance Company, after his military service. In 1957, he also worked as an underwriter for Banner Mutual Insurance Company. In 1959, he left Banner Insurance to begin his own company. Safeway Mutual Insurance Company was incorporated on December 28, 1962.
Mr. Parrillo’s holdings have grown to include Safeway Insurance of Alabama, Safeway Insurance of Georgia, Safeway Insurance of Louisiana, Safeway Direct Insurance Company, Safeway Property Insurance Company and Oak Brook County Mutual Insurance Company. In addition to an active and successful professional life, his personal life” includes a 45-year marriage to his wife Carol. Bill and his wife have three children. He now resides in the western suburbs arid his many hobbies include golf and reading.
Bill and his wife have done extensive charity work. “The future of America is dependent on the education of our youth, and the Italian American Executives of Transportation Club fits in perfectly with our ideals. The education of young Italian Americans who otherwise would not be able to afford college will help make our country great, and will make people of all nationalities proud of the accomplishments of Italian Americans”, claims Bill.
